Welcome to Domaine de la Croix St-Michel
Nestling in the heart of the Cotes de Bourg vineyards, this historic villa dates back to about 1750. It is on the outskirts of the medieval village of Bourg-sur-Gironde, fortified in 1154 and now home to restaurants, boutique shops and a charming weekly market.
The ancient city of Bordeaux is 35 minutes south of the villa, the UNESCO World Heritage town St Emilion is 45mins to the east, and Vauban's celebrated fortified citadel at Blaye is five miles to the north.
The main part of the Domaine is a classic Girondine mansion, built from Bordeaux stone in about 1850, with high ceilings and an understated elegance. It has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The older part of the house was built a century earlier, with three bedrooms, deep stone walls and cosy rustic charm.
There is a sunny pool, almost two acres of lawns leading down to the neighbouring vineyard, and a pretty eighteenth century pigeonnier which houses the romantic seventh bedroom.
Close to the main house there's a stone barn in which the Domaine's wine used to be made, and which now offers table tennis and table football.
